28 and counting.
April 26, 2009 – 9:00 pm
I felt the privilege to photograph such an amazing family. Being around this group sits with an amount of ease and freedom. That is saying a lot with a group of twenty-eight. Ernest tagged along as my assistant on this particular shoot. We both left feeling this is what we want our family to feel like. Just as a side note, I don’t think he will ever assist me again. It may have been all the booty shaking. Grin. And yes, Robbie, I will never see you the same.
Cindy, thank you for honor of serving your family.
And now for the Seays. All of them.
My favorite shot of the day. Nana and her girls.
All the grand ones. Love the one crying, it just makes it so real.

A peaceful outdoor setting carried this wedding. It is a good thing I stayed focused. I am one that can get lost in the beauty of the grand outdoors. Imagine sounds of a preacher, birds singing, and a soft breeze blowing through old trees. It was good. And to top that, the reception was held at the Cat Springs Agriculture Center that brought on the nostalgia of my favorite Hope Floats dance scene. I mean, really, that is one great feel.
easter + egg
April 13, 2009 – 5:43 pm
Before heading out to church the two hunted for eggs indoors. It was raining outside so we tried to make the most of the incredible edible egg hunt. The kids had fun and it ended with the popcorn popper that was left for them by the Easter Bunny. Oh yes. It cracked us up to watch the kids walk right past the eggs that were so OUT and in the OPEN. Love them. Colt decided he needed the help of a bright light. I guess it worked.
weekend + shoes

Weekending.
- newborn session
- small wedding session
- baseball double header
- elementary school carnival
- church
- weekly grocery date
My weekend may be looking full. My plan is to tackle it wearing my new HaPpY shoes. Everyone needs a pair that just brings out a smile. I am not sure if I would have picked these up in black or white. It is the teal that sold me.
Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
March 23, 2009 – 3:22 pm
Honestly, I am not a rodeo kind of girl. One year, I wore boots. One year! That is because my friend, Karina, convinced me that I would be the only one not wearing boots. Karina, you lied. I still love you.
However, I am a carnival kind of girl. With that said, I love the time of year when the rodeo comes to town. It is a big deal here in Houston. We are talking BIG.
The Parkers took us all to the livestock show. I cannot figure out why roping would ever be considered fun. But, to each their own. At one point there were little kids, 5 and under, riding sheep to see who could last the longest. It was called something, hmm, yeah, cannot remember the name of that. That part was truly cute.
My two especially enjoyed the cotton candy. Nana and Papaw made sure to spoil their four with all things sugar. Those four grandkids love them even harder for it. As I am typing I am hearing a good Texan drawl, for sure, we are talking rodeo, right?
Stations of the Cross.
March 19, 2009 – 4:58 pm
I was honored to be part of our church’s Stations of the Cross art exhibit. My station was Jesus dies on the Cross. Instead of telling you about it, I will just share some photos and my artist statement.
Artist Statement: (this paragraph is positioned right next to the art piece)
The sacrifice of Jesus’ life on the cross was given in love for the redemption of people. People like you and people like me. In our acceptance of his life and death we are redeemed. As I walked through the moments the story of the cross became real. The tree that carried His flesh was heavy and rugged. In spite of the pain, Christ endured. In the dark hours of the night the sweet faces of His people must have come to His thoughts. In my piece you will see the background being the face. The face of me, you, us. In front and center is a simple symbol of that one tree. The tree where He gave His life.
Christ, we receive your love and turn our hearts to you. In your sacrifice you have redeemed the world.
In this piece: Digital Prints. Acrylic Paint. Spray Glue. Clear Varnish.

This beautiful family is only two weeks away from bringing all things blue into thier world. Little miss Katie was a joy to photograph. At one point, she looked at mom and dad, after they requested her to smile and look at the camera to say “But, Ms.Debra takes SOOO many pictures.” You need to read that again if you did not add a sweet little girl voice. Priceless. I love my job. Did I mention that Katie photographed me with her little Vtech digital camera. Snap, snap.
