We are homeschooling for the first time this year: 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 8th. I would have never tried it without the whole deputation traveling but we really are enjoying it. The kids are working at their own pace. They will however attend the international school when we get to Africa. As far as Ronel- from a teacher's stand point his socialization process could either be sped up or harmed by public school. It is according to the teacher and the kids. Another thing to think about is language acquisition will he be able to learn better by immersion (all the kids around him) or one on one instruction (which you could give). It is a big prayer request. I can totally see you being a wonderful teacher or allowing him the public school experience and then being the reinforcement at home.
I think it is wonderful that you guys are adopting- wow what a gift!

Oh my goodness, don't you love the Gap/Old Navy $7 shipping thing? I just got our entire year's wardrobe mailed to me, during the Stuff-N-Save, Free Shipping, Kid's Sale bonzanza. I love the earrings. I totally would have spent the time hunting for the perfect $4 item, too. Nice work.

Homeschool. I could never do it. I think homeschooling is for extroverts. Are you drained by being around people all day, or energized by it? Something to think about.

are you thinking of homeschool for all the kids or just Ronel?? I know the whole homeschool thing is big right now, especially among the "religious" community...("religious" is probably not the best word to use, but you get the jist).

Have you done any research on homeschooling? I would do that, pray, pray, and pray. I think each and every situation is different and decisions must be made accordingly.

I personally would need LOTS of prayers before i could homeschool my kids...i think they get things in public school I couldn't give them here at home...and of course the things they DON'T get in public school, i still have opportunities to give them when they ARE at home. i just do not have the desire...maybe my feelings would be different if i did have it...desire, that is.

The kids are going to a great school. The district is amazing. I could not ask for better. My real question is how is this going to be for our son from Haiti. We may have to think of alternate education plans for him. Then again we may not. I have heard from many adoptive (of older children) families that have sent their children to public school. I think it will just depend on a lot of different factors.

My girls are in one of the best public schools in GA and they love it. I played with the idea of Home School but they are getting so much more than I could give them. It brings me great joy to see who they are becoming. H

Yes we are ready in fact we took april off and started back in May. Since we will be moving soon, I didnt want to worry with having to get stuff done. I will take workbooks with us on our journey since it will be almost 2 months long. It took me almost 2 years before God convinced me that that was his will for our family. (I was kicking and fighting it) I say pray about it and see where God leads you. Its a huge committment but if its what God wants he will guide you and help you. Great job getting good deals online! :)
