You would walk up a short driveway. When you ring the door bell I will quickly answer. Don’t you know that I have been anticipating your arrival. We would laugh together while sharing our casual hellos. The heavy black door is closed after we walk through.
Of course I would have lit some candles on your behalf. They just make a day feel special.
Maybe we would share a meal. Something simple like a whole wheat sandwich & pasta. Or maybe something divine like Chicken Alfredo. How about anything that goes with Guacamole? I love that stuff. I would bring out the pretty glasses and the plates that match. [Alright… None of my plates match but that is the idea. They have a non matching togetherness.]
::
In the midst of eating and laughing what would we talk about?
::
I would share the highs and questions about adoption. or
I would share how for the life of me I cannot figure out our amazing God. or
I would try to convince you to do a teen girls ministry with me. [who knows what that looks like] or
I would share how I started into photography. or
I would share funny kid sayings/doings. or
I would share the horizon vision of youth missions.
::
What would you bring to the conversation table?

Hey Debra, I have read your blog for a while and have grown to look forward to reading it and staying up to date. If I came over for dinner I would tell you that I just gave you an award as thanks for sharing your heart, your life, and your story. I would ask you to tell me more about this adoption process and how you found this amazing boy…or better yet how God brought him to you because isn’t that the truth. Well, if you want more info about the award come over to my blog and check it out!
I would thank you so much for going through all the trouble to have me over! Tell you how delighted I am to get to just sit and chat in person with you! Probably bring up how amazing God is in my life as well! Tell you that He always blesses me beyond what I expect and deserve! Tell you how He is working in the lives of our teenagers like never before! Update you on both my parents with their cancers. Same ol’ same ol’!
I would talk about teen girls WITH you…because oh, I love them so!
(And then I would want YOU to tell me some cool photo tips.)
Oh, and maybe a bit about the bible study I am doing this semester. (I told your husband I wish you could be there!)
I’d say that I’d LOVE to do teen girls’ ministry with you! I was in youth ministry for 8 years before coming to seminary.
Then, after hearing about your start in photography, I’d tell ya about how I got into songwriting and worship leading.
And I’d love the perfectly unmatching plates.
PS: I’m totally stealing this idea. You’ll see it on my blog one day, but I’ll give you full credit when I write my version.
Great post! I would want to hear about your life and how God has brought you to where you are. I would share how God has blessed my marriage and how he gave us 4 amazing children. The process of having children for us is still shocking to our doctors. We had 3 miscarriages before Ashlin. How God is teaching us still and of course all the things our kids say and do.
Debra I don’t talk to you very much, but how I can see God working in your life. You guys are an amazing family.
We would have to catch up on life. We have not seen each other in so long. Not that there is much going on in my life, but there is plenty in yours for the both of us. We would also have to chat about old times…the notorious B-U-G and the fashion show from that year at camp. Oh how I miss you and your family. I was just thinking on my way to school this morning that I need to come visit ya’ll.
Wow, that sounds fantastic! I want to come over to your house!
I would talk about adoption, and God’s heart for the orphan, and how we can improve the fostercare system, and which fruit is most improved by being dipped in chocolate.
