Audition.

“Much of the need I had to prove myself, to achieve, to provide, to protect, can be traced to my feelings about Jackie.  But there must be something more, the “something” that makes one need to excel.  Some may call it ambition.  I can live with that.  Some may call it insecurity, although that is such a boring, common label, like being called shy. that means little.  But  as I look back, it feels to me that my life has been one long audition-an attempt to make a difference and to be accepted.”

I find this paragraph in the prologue of Barbara Walter’s Book Audition very interesting.  I have not gotten far into the book.  I have heard it can be somewhat strong at times.  I really cannot even tell you the exact reasons that I want to read this book.  I know that I am deeply interested in the lives of women.  I want to know them.  I want to sit down and listen to their words.  The ins and outs of their story intrigues me.  I want to see and hear how God has intertwined himself in their lives.  Even if they don’t see it.  I am not saying that Barbara does not see it.  I don’t know.  I am only on the 4th chapter. Does any of this make sense?

Enough for now.  My mind is going to burst with thoughts.  All of which will make no sense.

Have you read this book?  It is okay to come out of the closet.  What did you think about it?

Sex God

I just started Sex God by Rod Bell.

I am already intrigued. Here is just a small portion of what is stirring in my spirit.

When a human being is mistreated, objectified, or neglected, when they are treated as less than human, these actions are actions against God. Because how you treat the creation reflects how you feel about the Creator.

To be a Christian is to work for the new humanity. Jesus commands his followers to feed and clothe and visit and take care of those who need it. They’re fellow image-bearers, they’re just like us, and when we love them, we’re loving God.

Any thoughts?

What are you reading?

summer reading, coupons, and you.

What are you reading?

At the moment I am reading Escape by Carolyn Jessop. I am very intrigued in the stories of life, especially life that is very different from mine. This story is proving very interesting. It is essentially about polygamy and life in the FLDS.

I have followed Jamie’s lead and created a sticky on my computer for a reading list. This is where I need your help. What have you been reading? What have you loved?

On the end of needing your help…

I am desiring to become a coupon diva. I must admit, I don’t believe that I have ever used one measly coupon, EVER. What are your thoughts on coupons? Do you think they make you spend more or do they actually save you money? Do you have any tips, tricks, or websites to point me to?

Always.
